5 days and counting...

We are only 5 days away from our long awaited departure. All of the complicated travel details (team members are currently scattered across multiple states, and a trip leader is in a different country) have been worked out and the actual packing process has begun for many team members. Packing a suitcase is the easy part of the remaining preparation. The harder part is preparing our hearts and minds for what God has planned for us, our team and the people who are at Beacon of Hope everyday.

I'm not much of a writer, so I'm going to steal words that Lisa Underhill wrote 2 years ago: "as I struggle with being prepared, it is my hope to go forward with a mind that wants to learn and with a heart that God will shape into what He wants it to be."

Regardless of whether it is their first, third, seventh-ish or somewhere-in-between time going to Kenya, I'm sure that those words from Lisa reflect all of our team members' feelings. We thank everyone for your encouragement and financial support that made this 2011 Kenya trip possible. We especially thank you for your continued prayers.

You all will be in our hearts as we serve with our friends in Kenya. We look forward to sharing our experiences with you as we go, and after we return.

Andy
